Sunbury Downs College has a strong tradition of student voice and community involvement. The Annual College Production is a Performing Arts based co-curricular program structured to reflect of our college motto, ‘Confidence to Achieve’.  The co-curricular program endeavours to connect students with an alternative learning environment, which is committed to a culture of participation and excellence based on mutual respect. The Annual Musical Production is enriched with unique teacher –student relationships to validate the programs curriculum focus and promote students' academic success.

Students who commit to the co- curricular program dedicate copious amount of time and effort in preparing for auditions, attending lunchtime and after school rehearsals, fundraising events and performance week. We strategically place our Musical Production Performance Week amongst the College Academic Calendar to ensure the co-curricular program does not impend on student academic commitments, especially VCE Students.

Our Musical Production Team is comprised of teaching and educational support staff, who are highly experienced in their fields and devoted to the arts.

  • Producer & Choreographer – Ms Natalie Gates
  • Director – Mr Bryce Healy
  • Artistic Director – Mr David Bentley
  • Musical Director – Mr Ron Romero
  • Lighting & Tech Director – Mr Christopher Mitchell
  • Costume Designer – Ms Maria Zarro

In preparation for our Annual Musical Production, we invite our students to attend a two day intensive rehearsal camp at Lake Dewar Lodge, Myrniong. This vital rehearsal time allows our students to rehearse, refine and edit their individual and ensemble performance to thus improve the overall quality of our Musical Production. As part of the co-curricular program, not only do our student exercise vigilant organisational skills but they develop as unique performing artists who are able to express their love of Musical Theatre.

This year, the College happily received the licensing rights to the Disney Classic, Beauty and the Beast.

Please come and see our talented student perform this much loved tale from August 3 – 5, at Sunbury Downs College Gymnasium. Tickets will be available via our College Events page on Monday 15 May.
