Education Resource Centre

The ERC acts as the information centre of the school.  It provides a learning environment which not only supports the curriculum, but encourages life-long learning in our students.  Information literacy and ICT literacy are key targets to develop our students as critical users of information in the 21st century.  Our role is to encourage them to be responsible digital citizens. The rewards of reading are reflected by an appreciation of literature and enthusiasm for reading for leisure.

The ERC provides a wide range of multimodal resources that students can access during class time, recess, lunchtime, before and after school. The ERC has 20 computers all providing access to the internet, online databases, the Microsoft Office suite of programs and all programs provided by the Edustar image. Students are welcome to spend their time, researching, working of tasks, making a selection from our extensive range of new fiction releases or indulging in a game of chess.

ERC staff work co-operatively with students, teachers and school management to provide:

  • resources which support and enrich the curriculum.
  • teachers with the support they need to teach information skills.
  • students with learning processes and research skills in both individual and group settings.
  • the services and technologies needed to gain maximum access to information.
  • access to an organized collection of resources and services in a supportive environment, conducive to study, reading and research.

Opening Hours
The ERC is open Monday to Friday:
8:30 am – 12:50pm
1:00pm – 4:30pm

During these times, students may use any of the resources in the ERC.

Classes may be booked into the ERC by their subject teachers. The ERC is one of the most pleasant and ‘user friendly’ areas of the school. 

The ERC promotes itself as the centre of learning by:

  • Providing instruction in Web 2.0 tools
  • Showcasing student work and achievement
  • Encouraging students to do private study in the ERC, utilising resources and ERC staff expertise in research.
  • Regular publication and promotion of new resource additions.
