What Is The ACE Program
The ACCELERATED CURRICULUM and ENRICHMENT Program is designed to cater for the special educational needs of high ability students. It operates on the principles of Curriculum Acceleration and Enrichment.
The first of these—Curriculum Acceleration—enables students to cover course work at a faster pace. This methodology will provide a more challenging learning environment for students and give them the opportunity to engage in a six year program but with a much broader VCE experience than traditionally is possible.
The second of these—Curriculum Enrichment—encourages the study of more complex and abstract concepts and a greater emphasis on higher order thinking skills such as analysing, synthesising, generalising and recognising relationships. Students are actively encouraged to develop investigative, problem solving and creative thinking skills which will challenge and engage them. Ultimately, this will provide an excellent foundation for further studies.
What Can The ACE Program Do For My Child?
Students and parents in the ACE Program sign an agreement outlining clear expectations and standards. Students in the program are firmly focused on achieving high levels of academic attainment while studying a broad range of subjects including Music and Italian. They are encouraged to undertake extension and enrichment work pertinent to the subject content and are also expected to undertake additional home study.
High quality counselling is available to ensure organisation and planning skills necessary for success. This program is tailor-made for students who have long term ambitions of high achievement in the VCE and maximising their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) for University entrance. It is intended that students in the ACE Program will be in the same class for the first three years.
Please note, participants in the ACE Program will be required to pay an additional fee to cover the various costs of the program.
