Assistant Principal's Message 

In the Junior Sub-School we have a strong student focus, encouraging active participation and enthusiasm for all aspects of school culture. We focus on building supportive and caring relationships with students and their families through our School Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) practices and educate and role model our College Values of Respect, Resilience, Ambition and Community. We embrace diversity and are inclusive of all students

The needs of each individual student are particularly important to us at Sunbury Downs College. The Home Group Teacher is the first point of contact for both the student and parents/carers. We encourage early communication between the family and the school when issues arise to ensure each child can successfully integrate into Sunbury Downs College; socially, emotionally and academically. We value positive relations between the family, child and school. Complex pastoral care issues may be addressed to the Home Group Teacher initially, but further support may be required from a Year Level Coordinator.

Successful Transitions

The motto of the Sunbury Downs College Junior Sub-School is 'Successful Transitions’.  We welcome students to Sunbury Downs College utilising a strong transition program that supports a successful start to secondary education. We believe that this along with our SWPBS practice forms the basis of an orderly learning environment that supports all students to experience success.

As Assistant Principal of the Junior Sub-School, I oversee the student management, engagement and wellbeing for students in Years 7-8. This includes working with our Junior Sub-School Team of Leaders and Teachers to ensure College policies such as uniform, academic achievement and student engagement are implemented.

I support our Junior Sub-School Leader and Year Level Coordinators in working with parents and students to provide a safe and inclusive learning environment ensuring a successful transition to secondary school for each child.
